The story has very ancient origins and extraordinary characteristics and sees in the rooster the symbol of the figure of Mercury, a divinity who represents trade, profit, eloquence.
A very important and significant symbolism, to the point of becoming a distinctive feature of the Apulian lands and its ceramics.
The rooster is therefore identified as a sacred animal, which in addition to Mercury can be traced back to other important symbols. In fact, it is considered almost like a domestic animal, capable of being able to remove all negative energies and malice from its home. Last, but not least, the characteristic of the famous Apulian cockerel is that it is considered a symbol of fertility.
Thanks to all these identifications with positive aspects of everyday life, he has become the undisputed protagonist of Apulian ceramics and can be found on many everyday objects, most of which are to be used at the table during meals.
The figure of the rooster on the ceramics over the years has been refined and perfected up to today's image, which depicts a colorful and upright cockerel. The colors used are always blue, yellow and red, moreover, around the figure of the animal there are stylized decorations of blue flowers that surround and refine the sacred image of the rooster.
